Purpose
- Provides incoming IC/UC with basic information regarding the incident situation and resources allotted to the incident and signals a transition from Incident Response to Incident Management.
- Form 201 functions as the summary of initial & planned actions for the response. Remains in use and continues to be developed (updated) until the response ends or the Planning Section generates the incident's first IAP.
- Facilitates documentation of the current situation, initial response objectives, current and planned actions, resources assigned and requested, on-scene organization structure and incident potential. The Form 201 is essential for future planning and effective management of emergency response activities.
- Suitable for briefing individuals newly assigned to Command & General Staff, as well as needed situation assessment briefings.
Critical Outcome
Brief the team using the Form 201, other forms as available, and Situation Display on the following:
- Where, when, what happened and how?.
- What is happening and what will happen?.
- Critical action items to support the field.
- Communicate clearly the incident potential and objectives for the current operational period.
