Incident/Event

Incident Command, Meeting, Incident Briefing, Form 201, Initial Assessment, and Response

There can be many types of incidents/events ranging in size and complexity.

All incidents will go through the Leg of the P whether they are small in size or duration (these account for 95%+ of all incidents) or initially assessed with a potential to escalate.

All emergencies will start with Incident Response, and may escalate (protracted incident) requiring the use full Incident Management. Most incidents will end before reaching this point.

In the Incident Response phase, the IC may be assisted by an IMS support organization to manage the consequences of the incident .* Refer to pg 37

There is a potential that an EOC support organization will continue to operate after a full IMT has taken command of the incident. The function of the EOC at that point will be to manage the "non- emergency" elements of the on going business or business continuity activities. E.g. Utilities, supply, commercial and incident investigation.
