• Review common and leadership responsibilities.
• Receive initial briefing from Communications Unit Leader (COML), Service Branch Director (SVBD) or Logistics Section Chief (LSC).
• Obtain and review the IAP to determine the incident organization and Incident Radio Communications Plan.
• Set up the ICC and order equipment and supplies as needed.
• Ensure adequate Radio Operator (RADO) staffing and scheduling in the ICC.
• Set up Message Center location as required.
• Implement a system to receive, issue, and track communications equipment.
• Implement a document filing system to track loss and damage reports, Form 213s, Form 214s, communications logs, etc.
• Record unusual communications system errors and issues in the Form 214 Unit Log.
• Ensure functionality and operation of equipment.
• Provide a briefing to relief personnel that includes current activities, equipment status, and any unusual communications situations.
• Turn in appropriate documents to the COML.
• Demobilize the ICC per the Incident Demobilization Plan.
• Maintain Form 214a Individual Log and forward to Documentation Unit Leader (DOCL) for disposition.
