Command Work Products - Overview

Work Products

The Incident Commander (IC) or Unified Command (UC) is responsible for providing direction and guidance to the Incident Management Team (IMT). They must assess and evaluate the overall requirements of the incident and determine the appropriate direction for the management team to follow during the response. This can be accomplished by developing the following documents/tools/processes (examples are contained in the follow on pages):

  1. Develop Response Objectives (Form 202 Incident Objectives),
  2. Set overall response Priorities (Form 202A Command Direction)
  3. Define Key Decisions and Operation Procedures (Form 202A Command Direction)
  4. Understand and identify actual and potential Limitations and Constraints (Form 202A Command Direction)
  5. Define the Information Management Process (immediate, routine, and organization reporting requirements - Form 202B Critical Information Requirements)
  6. Determine incident potential using Checklist for Determining Incident Potential
  7. Assign work (tasks) to primary staff within the Incident Management Team (Form 233 Open Action Tracker)
