Leadership Responsibilities for All IMS Positions

Review common responsibilities.

Upon check-in, receive briefing from Incident Commander, Section Chief, Branch Director, or supervisor, as appropriate.

Participate in incident planning meetings and briefings, as required.

Determine current status of unit activities.

Determine resource needs.

Order additional resources (equipment, personnel, supplies), as appropriate. Confirm dispatch and estimated time of arrival of staff and supplies.

Assign specific duties to staff; supervise staff. Carry out assignments as directed.

Complete forms and reports required of the assigned position and send through the supervisor to the Documentation Unit Leader (DOCL).

Develop and implement accountability, safety and security measures for personnel and resources.

Supervise demobilization of unit, including storage of supplies.

Provide Supply Unit Leader with a list of supplies to be replenished, using the Form 213 RR Resource Request.

Maintain records, including Form 214a Individual Log. Individual responders will maintain personal log of actions, decisions and events.

Complete Form 225 Personnel Performance Rating of staff, as appropriate.
