Branch Director

Responsibilities

A branch is that organizational level having functional/geographic responsibility for major incident operations. The branch level is organizationally between Section and Division/Group in the Operations Section. The Operations Branch Directors (OPBDs), when activated, are under the direction of the Operations Section Chief or Deputy (OSC/DOSC), or On-Scene Commander, depending on the situation, and are responsible for the implementation of the portion of the Incident Action Plan (IAP) appropriate to the Operations Branch(s), when activated. Examples of commonly established branches are provided on the following pages.
