• Review common and leadership responsibilities.
• Receive initial briefing from Operations Section Chief or Deputy (OSC/DOSC) and/or On-Scene Commander or briefing from person you are relieving.
• Identify divisions, groups, task force, strike teams and single resources assigned to the branch.
• Identify and Implement branch elements of the Incident Action Plan (IAP).
• Assign specific work tasks to Division/Group Supervisors (DIVS).
• Ensure that Division and/or Group Supervisors (DIVS) receive entire IAP.
• Provide the OSC alternative and/or contingency strategies and tactics, including a list of additional resources needed in the Staging Area.
• Review division/group Form 204 Assignment Lists for divisions/groups within the branch. Modify lists based on effectiveness of current operations.
• Supervise Operations Branch ops and assign specific work tasks to DIVS.
• Resolve logistical problems reported by subordinates.
• Attend Planning Meeting at the request of the OSC/DOSC.
• Ensure through chain of command that the Resource Unit Leader (RESL) and Situation Unit Leader (SITL) are advised of changes in the Form 210 Change Status Form assigned to the branch through the chain of command.
• Report to OSC/DOSC when to following occur: the IAP is to be modified; additional resources are needed; surplus resources are available; or hazardous situations or significant events occur.
• Approve accident and medical reports (organizationally-required forms) originating within the Operations Branch.
• Evaluate the demobilization of excess resources well in advance of demobilization.
• Assemble and demobilize branches, divisions, groups, task force/strike teams and single resources, as appropriate.
• Debrief with OSC/DOSC and/or On-Scene Commander as directed at the end of each shift.
• Maintain Form 214a Individual Log and forward to Documentation Unit Leader (DOCL) for disposition. 94
