Prep for Command Objectives Meeting - General Tasks Checklist

Incident Commander

  • Review with Planning Section Chief (PSC): changes to the Form 201-2 Summary of Current Actions or Form 202 Incident Objectives from the current operational period to reflect updates/changes for next operational period (as appropriate), Form 207 Organization Chart, Form 230 Daily Meeting Schedule, and timeframe for the next operational period.
  • Ensure Form 230 Daily Meeting Schedule includes press conference and other special meetings for current operational period.
  • Conduct Status Briefings in Incident Command Post (ICP) with input from Command & General Staff, if needed.
  • Discuss staff needs with Command & General Staff, including second shift for night operations, if needed.
  • Work with PSC to prepare draft Form 202A Command Direction (Key Decisions & Procedures, Priorities, & Limitations/Constraints ) & Form 202B (Critical Information Requirements & Reporting Procedures) to present and review at Command Objectives Meeting.

Operations Section Chief

  • Identify, document, and communicate areas of operation to PSC and Situation Unit Leader (SITL).
  • Assist Resource Unit Leader (RESL) with the Operations Section portion of Form 207 Organization Chart for next operational period.
  • Assist RESL with updating resources, as needed.
  • Provide input to PSC for developing draft Form 202 Incident Objectives and communicate to IC/UC.
  • Assist SITL to update map to reflect current operations.

Planning Section Chief

  • Ensure meeting location is identified with sufficient seating arrangements, Situation Status Display, and ground rules posted, as appropriate.
  • Work with IC to prepare draft Form 202A (Key Decisions & Procedures, Priorities, & Limitations/Constraints) & Form 202B (Critical Information Requirements & Reporting Procedures) to present and review at Command Objectives Meeting.
  • Obtain input from IC/UC and Operations Section Chief (OSC) to draft Form 202 Incident Objectives for next operational period.
  • Assist RESL with the Planning Section portion of Form 207 Organization Chart for next operational period.
  • Work with OSC to determine suggested timeframe and prepare draft Form 230 Daily Meeting Schedule for next operational period and communicate to IC/UC.

Situation Unit Leader

  • Update the following items and post on Situation Status Board:
    • Situation map with input from Operations, Environmental Unit Leader (ENVL), and Logistics (i.e. areas of operation, facilities, resources at risk, staging areas, etc.).
    • Form 202 Incident Objectives for current period.
    • Weather Report, overflight information and predicted trajectory forecasts.
    • Form 209 Incident Status Summary updated for current period.
    • Approved Form 230 Daily Meeting Schedule from Initial IC/UC Meeting.
    • Coordinate with Resources Unit Leader (RESL) to update current organization on Form 203 or Form 207 Organization Chart.
    • Coordinate with RESL to ensure all incident resources are on the Resource Summary.
    • Ensure Common Operating Picture is setup and ready for use in the Command Objectives Meeting if available
  • Ensure duplicate Situation Status Display is available in the meeting room, if requested.

Resource Unit Leader

  • Ensure Resource Summary is up-to-date with assistance from Operations and Logistics.
  • Revise and update Form 207 Organization Chart or Form 203 Organization Assignment List based on Initial Command Meeting and current organization.

Environmental Unit Leader

  • Prepare Form 232/232a Resources at Risk and assist Situation Unit Leader (SITL) to ensure resources at risk are displayed and up-to-date on the situation map.

Documentation Unit Leader

  • Prepare/update Form 233 Open Action Tracker for review/use during Command Objectives Meeting
  • Prepare Form 231 Meeting Summary to document and take meeting minutes during Command Objectives Meeting.
  • Ensure blank copies of the Form 214a Individual Log is available to all IMT members

Logistics Section Chief

  • Provide Resource Unit Leader (RESL) with listing of ordered resources and assist with updating Resource Summary.
  • Determine or confirm resource requisition process, and ensure process is communicated to IMT.
