• Review common and leadership responsibilities.
• Receive initial briefing from Service Branch Director (SVBD) or Logistics Section Chief (LSC).
• Determine level of emergency activities performed prior to activation of MEDL.
• Participate in Logistics Section/Service Branch planning activities, providing relevant medical in-put for strategy development.
• Establish the Medical Unit.
• Prepare the Form 206 Medical Plan.
• Provide any relevant medical input into the planning process for strategy development.
• Coordinate with Safety Officer (SOFR), Operations, HAZMAT specialists, and others on proper personal protection procedures for incident personnel.
• Prepare procedures for major medical emergency.
• Develop transportation routes and methods for injured incident personnel.
• Ensure incident personnel patients are tracked as they move from origin, care Facility and disposition.
• Provide continuity of medical care for incident personnel.
• Declare major medical emergency as appropriate.
• Provide or oversee medical and rehab care delivered to incident personnel.
• Monitor health aspects of incident personnel including excessive incident stress.
• Respond to requests for medical aid, medical transport. and medical supplies.
• In conjunction with Finance Section, prepare and submit necessary authorizations, reports and administrative documentation related to injuries, compensation or death of incident personnel.
• Coordinate personnel and mortuary affairs for incident personnel fatalities.
• Provide oversight and liaison as necessary for incident victims among emergency medical care, medical examiner and hospital care.
• Provide for security and proper disposition of incident medical records and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations.
• Maintain Form 214a Individual Log and forward to DOCL for disposition.
